A reading you can check, line by line

This site exists because a standards catalogue page tells a buyer almost nothing and a paywalled draft tells them less. The gap between "a new part is coming" and "here is what it asks of you" is where the work is.

Who writes it

Gerard Blokdyk and The Art of Service build registers, checks and evidence files from standards and regulations. The method is the same on every product: read the primary source, state the requirement in our own words, cite the clause, label the interpretation, and say plainly where the source is silent. The byline is a person, not a brand desk.

Why this part, and why now

Password-based key derivation sits in an awkward place. Almost every organisation has a password somewhere, and almost none can say which of its keys came from one. The first edition of ISO/IEC 11770-8 gives that question a name and two functions. A CISO needs to know whether the scope reaches them before the publication date, not after.

What we will not do

  • We will not reproduce the ISO text or sell it. The standard is sold by ISO and its national members.
  • We will not invent a clause, a date, an identifier or a parameter recommendation.
  • We will not call a scope reading a compliance result, a certification or an audit opinion.
  • We will not name a customer without permission.
  • We will not claim that ISO, IEC or any national body endorses this site.

Corrections

If a line is wrong, the source will show it. Email support@theartofservice.com with the citation and the page. A correction is published in the change log with the date, and a material correction is sent to watch subscribers. The record's change date moves whenever a line changes.

How the record is kept

One reviewed JSON record holds every unit, evidence item, date and source pointer. The pages, the free check and the kit are all rendered from it, so a fix lands in every output at once. The refresh script re-reads the public sources and fails on a change. The method page sets out the evidence levels and the eight sources.
